FAQ
Rugs
Why are the rugs so expensive?
The rugs are handmade, unique pieces created with great attention to detail. The high-quality materials, the complex tufting technique, the careful gluing and subsequent shaving, as well as the application of the backing, require considerable time and craftsmanship. Each rug is therefore an individual work of art that justifies its price not only through its quality but also through the labor invested.
Why is the production time so long?
The rugs are lovingly handcrafted, which takes time. Since the rugs are made part-time, only a limited number can be produced at a time.
Can any motif be implemented as a rug?
In principle, it is possible to create almost any motif as a rug. However, the prerequisite is that the image is first vectorized so that it can be used as a template for the tufting process. In a few exceptional cases, limitations may apply due to complex color gradients or extremely fine details.
Can a rug be washed and tumble dried?
Washing machines and dryers should be avoided, as this could dissolve the glue on the backing of the rug. Gently wiping by hand with a damp cloth and cold water is recommended. Regular vacuuming is possible without any problems.
Plant
Where do the plants come from?
All plants are grown from seeds (e.g., Alocasia) or cuttings. This ensures consistently high quality and the plants are carefully cultivated from the very beginning.
What is PON and why isn't a normal substrate used?
PON is a substrate based on lava rock. It is easy to maintain and has a particularly elegant appearance. Thanks to its composition, overwatering is virtually impossible, providing optimal protection for the plant.
When does the plant need to be fertilized?
The PON substrate used (Lechuza) is already pre-fertilized for six months. Additional fertilization is usually not necessary during the winter months. After the first six months, a special Lechuza fertilizer that is optimally tailored to PON can be applied. Further information can be found here:Lechuza Long-Term Fertilizer Perfect Leaf
What should I do if the plant needs to be repotted?
When repotting, it's recommended to choose a pot that's about a finger's width larger than the current one and is suitable for semi-hydroponic use. Such pots are available both here in the shop and from other retailers.
Why does the PON get moldy?
Sometimes plants are unable to fully utilize all the nutrients from the PON substrate. This can lead to the formation of a thin layer of mold on the surface, which is generally harmless to the plant. In addition, stagnant air with high humidity can promote mold growth. A water mixture with 3% hydrogen peroxide, which can be carefully applied to the affected area, can help combat a surface layer of mold.
