About me

Ever since I can remember, I've loved building things, or at least trying to. Even as a child, I tinkered in the small workshop at home, mostly with plywood, a few nails (usually hammered in at an angle), and a lot of enthusiasm. The result was dozens of "boxes," rarely straight, but always with crooked nails that often poked out the other side. These early attempts at crafting had little to do with arts and crafts, but they were the beginning of my passion for DIY.

The DIY principle has been a constant companion in my life ever since. I love making things myself instead of simply buying them. Not because it's cheaper—quite the opposite. The end product is usually more expensive, more time-consuming, and involves considerably more cursing. But there's hardly anything more satisfying than looking at something and thinking, "I made that, and it doesn't look half bad!"

As a computer scientist, I often spend my days in front of screens, code, and complex systems. Tinkering is in my blood, but sometimes you need a break from all the ones and zeros. And so my hobby became the perfect counterpoint: away from the digital world, towards the hands-on. Instead of pixels, I work with wool, filament, and anything else you can touch in my free time.

I stumbled across tufting at some point and was immediately fascinated. With a tufting gun in your hand, you can literally paint, only with yarn. This enthusiasm led to my first handmade rugs: colorful, sometimes wild pieces, inspired by nature, plants, and geometric shapes. It's incredibly satisfying when an empty fabric frame slowly transforms into a finished work of art – and you can finally walk on it barefoot.

(Don't worry, if you buy a rug from me you can be sure that it has not been touched by any feet.)

Besides tufting, I love experimenting with modern tools like 3D printers and CAD programs. This opens up entirely new possibilities for realizing ideas – be it a custom-made plant stand, a clever accessory, or simply a beautiful decorative object. DIY is practically limitless these days, and that's precisely what makes it so exciting.

But: I also know that DIY isn't for everyone. Not everyone has the desire, time, or space to deal with yarn fuzz, filament spools, or a chaotic mess of tools. And that's exactly why Eigenstueck exists—my little shop full of things I've made myself with passion and a good dose of patience.

This way you get the best of both worlds: the charm of handmade items without hitting your own finger with a hammer.

Here you'll find handmade, self-designed items: from tufted rugs and plant accessories to small 3D-printed design objects. All crafted with great attention to detail, a touch of technology, and a healthy dose of curiosity about what else one (or rather, I) can make oneself.

Perhaps you'll find your next unique piece here – handmade, one-of-a-kind and guaranteed not mass-produced.
